And so it begins

The shooting by an obvious crazed gunman who opened fire at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, on October 1 has brought about new concerns for campus safety, mental health, terrorism and Christianity.

Unfortunately there seem to be more questions than answers to this horrific event. Although the President in his press conference (which was entirely political) stated the need for more "gun free" zones, what he didn't say was that all of Oregon is a "gun free" zone as was this Community College.

The bottom line is exactly as the old adage says, "if guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns" and this was certainly the case on Thursday. The law abiding students and teachers had no guns but the shooter certainly did.

One of the greatest concerns arsing from this living nightmare was the shooter's obsession with identifying which students and teachers were Christians and then shooting and killing most that were.

There are additional questions of obvious concern such as time factors, the total of dead, injured, how the shooter was brought down, limited involvement by the FBI in the investigation, shooter's motives, his possible involvement with the IRA and so much more that just doesn't seem to add up; it is obviously a concern for every American.

For Christian Americans it is possibly the greatest of all concerns, being physical tortured or killed for your faith on American soil.

Christians have seen their religious freedom eroded and trampled on by the federal courts, the ACLU and social hate groups for decades in the United States but this appears to be the first incident in which individuals were actively singled out for their Christian belief and executed.

And so it begins, will Christians just ignore this absolute atrocity or will we stand up as never before and challenge in every way any and all attacks on our Christian faith?
